The Kitchen's HistoryS & S Kitchens was founded in 2004 by me, Sue Totino. I have been baking for over 50 years, starting in my Mom's kitchen all the way to managing a very large and well-known supermarket bakery here in Vineland. I moved on to operating a roadside fruit and vegetable stand from my home in Rosenhayn, NJ as well as selling produce at a couple of different farmers' markets in the South Jersey area. Never losing my love for baking, I began baking a small variety of cakes and sweet breads with fruit from the stand and selling them at my produce markets. After a couple of weeks, I was selling more baked goods than produce! A short time later I was selling only my cakes and sweet breads. I then started booking dates at local craft shows which is when the business really started to boom. After a while, the work load became too much for me to handle alone, so I decided to take on a partner, who better than one of my own sons. Homesick Tony Totino, had recently moved back from Virginia. When the offer was made to come into my growing business, it was just too good to pass up. And that was when S & S came to stand for Sue & Son. In a matter of a year, the business had grown and the baking area became too small. So, we rented a store front and did our baking there. Of course, we had all of the necessary health certificates and licenses needed. As time progressed, the store and shows became too much to handle. Overwhelmed by this, a decision was made and Tony decided to pursue his ambition of being in law enforcement. So, we closed the store and S & S was once again Sue & Saul. I built a new 30x40 foot commercial facility near our home and work out of there. All the health certificates and requirements are certified again. Now, I just do shows over 100% of the state. I add new items to the list of more than 20 varieties. All are hand crafted with the freshest ingredients possible as though it was done in my home. No Sugar Added (NSA) and Gluten Free varieties are now available. I also offer jams like Grandma used to make. Most are made of Jersey Fresh fruits, which are made in season, usually processed with 24-48 hours off the plant. There are over 25 varieties to choose from. Some jams, jellies, butters, or marmalade….all Scrumptious. Enough said, back to baking.........See you at the SHOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
